119 – Newman Golf Course, 1st Hole

David- right course, wrong hole, though there are similarities.  Mazr knows this one.  The view from the Blues (the back “tee box” for you non-golfers) on hole #1 at Newman.

From the whites it’s 340 yards.  The blue tees not only stretch the hole to 406 yards, but it also brings the trees into play.

This is also the hole where yours truly got up and down from the greenside bunker for par in a sudden death playoff to qualify for a spot in the Men’s City.  In “C” flight I won my first three matches and took the semi-final match to the 18th hole where I finally choked.  I’ve qualified in higher flights, but I’ve never had more fun than that year.  I’ll never understand the elitists who withdraw if they don’t qualify for Championship Flight.

104 – Country Club of Peoria Golf Course

The Country Club of Peoria Golf Course opened in 1897 with 9 holes and was Peoria’s first golf course. In 1915, more land was purchased to complete the building of a full 18 hole golf course.

It measures in at a 6,229 yards from the tips with a course rating of 70.4 and a slope of 124 (which all means that it’s short, but can cause trouble if you’re not careful)

JW, in the forefront is definitely a green fence, which borders Bishop Street. I’ll have to take Burl’s word that it’s the 8th hole. Anyone ever need a partner, let me know!

Josh, if it was Northmoor/Donovan GC, I would be inside the fence.ÂÂ
