Peoria Landmark #476
This is a maddening little nine hole course in Eureka. It’s only a par 34 of 2,725 yards but water comes in to play on several holes and there is hole number 6, commonly referred to as the birdhouse hole as any ball played to the right of the birdhouse off the tee is O.B.. The green is a bit severe too, or as my playing partner put it, “after all the hell it took me to get there I had to deal with that bullsh*t green.”
It’s one of my favorite courses and at $10 on a weekend, a bargain. Note, cash or check only, and quite a workout if you decide to walk.
Now for the rest of the story. Some of you may remember a small and little maintained cemetery on the grounds behind the 7th tee box. The last time I played golf here was back in ’09 and the cemetery was gone, replaced by a monument. All of the old headstones were tossed willy nilly into a grove of bushes.

I told my playing partner “you’re not going to believe this” and took him over to the grove of bushes, but there was nothing to be seen, which begs the question… what happened to them?
