I asked my mom about this one time, since she lived in an apartment near Steak n’ Shake when my parents first got married.
She said it was a drive in beauty parlor!

Ugh, that comment was meant for #315, not this entry! I was getting some javascipt error, then the comment ended up here instead…

  3. JW Says:

Steak ‘n Shake served horse meat?

Either Wildlife Prairie Park or somewhere near Dunlap.

Farmdale Recreational Area off School Street south of Washington, Il ?

  6. John Green Says:

I would guess Wildlife Prairie Park as well. Over by that old cabin they have.

That looks like my Weaver Ridge polo horsey.

  8. shay Says:

    Peoria Glue Factory?

  9. shay Says:

Jubilee College State Park Equestrian Area, off of the Princeville-Brimfield State Road which accesses the northern border of the park boundary?

Nope, it is owned by the same people who own Meister Bros Heating and A/C, or at least the daughter, last name Sceggel (I probably mis-spelled that) and located between Baer Apartments at 801 and the owner lives at 823 S Baer. Baer runs off of old Lincoln Ave which parallels Harmon Hwy.

Down the street is an old old tavern now called Tina’s Coach Stop but it is my understanding that this was a rest station years ago for those heading west. It would be interesting to know the history of this building as I heard Lincoln himself stayed there once.
