290 – The 2nd Easton Fountain

Peoria Landmark #290peoria_landmark_290

Well, now we know that there are at least two in existence.  This one is at Junction City.  The other (NTPL #286) is on High Street.  As the plaque there says “The fountains were placed along the riverfront road downtown to give Peorians and their horses water as they traveled.”

Anyone know of any others?  I don’t.

Ah, so there is another one left. I got the last one, so I’ll let someone else guess on this one.

This is the statue at Junction City. Right by my house, so I see it all the time

    Yep, Junction City.

While not an “Easton” humane fountain like this one, there is another humane fountain in Glen Oak Park (contributed by a different early wealthy Peorian I think). It’s under the brick & columned structure (Kinsey Memorial) in the upper park just off prospect.
