HOI News: Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Peoria County Courthouse Plaza. The Memorial will be dedicated to all Peoria County veterans who served, lost their lives, or supported from home during World Wars I & II. Representative Ray LaHood will introduce special guest speaker General Wayne A. Downing, U.S. Army Ret. U.S. Senator Richard Durbin will offer additional comments. Additional speakers will follow.

Could this be the World War I & II Memorial at the Peoria County courthouse plaza? I’ve never been there personally.

From personal experience, I can state that there are some bottoms in East Peoria that are quite lovely. But this isn’t that sort of blog.

I am told that my great-grandmother laid the wreath at the dedication of the first veterans monument in the old courthouse plaza. She did this as a young girl. She ended up marrying my great-grandfather, John Adam Kohl who was a business man in Peoria. Her name was Babbette.
