…and the Changes Statue, says Kara Harris. I didn’t get out of my car to read the plaque. Infact, I didn’t even see a plaque.

Located just to the North of Detweiller Golf Course along Galena Road, it is a basic boat launch area on the Illinois River which features, according to the Peoria Park District, “boat ramp, picnic area with grills, restrooms, parking and open river front. Open dawn – 11 pm daily. Free boat launching.

I’m pretty certain of the location but have never seen this sculpture there. It’s been awhile since last visit.

The changes statue? Never heard of it. How’d you know that? What is it supposed to represent? “Changes” obviously, but…

Well, I love it when you send me on a semi-wild goose chase! I thought I knew where this was so I drove there last night and checked it out. The statue said the title of Changes and when it was dedicated. (forgot what it said though) Interesting statue since I believe it to be a whale tail and last time I checked there are no whales in the Illinois River! :) I’d love to know the history.

I hear whale tail, I think of something COMPLETELY different than the rear appendage of a sea-dwelling mammal.
