Thumbs up to James, Floyd & Jen. This is the former Taco Bell, Chicago Grill, General’s Fish & Chicken and soon to be Cash2Go Payday Loan Scam Store at the corner of Sterling and Forrest Hill.

  1. James Says:

Is this the old Taco Bell (later Chicago Grill) at Sterling and Forest Hill in the Aldi lot?

  2. Floyd Says:

Yeah, it’s something like General’s Fish and Chicken or somesuch nonsense.

  3. PeoriaIllinoisan Says:

Yes, it used to be all of that non-sense, but now it’s gone even further downhill.

  4. jenjw4 Says:

    PI,
Oh, I saw this recently, isn’t it going to be one of those predatory loan places?
    Jennifer

  5. PeoriaIllinoisan Says:

    You nailed it, Jennifer.

  6. vonster Says:

Yeah, we need more of those…yup.

  7. mortonmalaise Says:

Seriously, can’t the city write some sort of new ordinance that allows only a certain number of those places per square mile? It’s absolutely ridiculous everywhere in Peoria.

  8. Gary Says:

Like the story of the pictured example, watching the video, I found myself trying to guess what the storefronts were before they became payday loan stores. One looked like a former bank, another appeared to have been a gas station, another a Denny’s, and so on. How many of the former business’ employees are now using that loan store to get by?

  9. Gary Says:

Holy cow! Didn’t realize the video was all from the Peoria area.

  10. chef Kevin Says:

Nothing like going in to get your overpriced loan and come out smelling like old fryer grease.

  11. PeoriaIllinoisan Says:

When I made the original video I didn’t realize that the title loan places were pretty much the same thing, so I passed over them. Yea, Gary, it’s Peoria. Sad, isn’t it?

  12. Mahkno Says:

And it still looks like a fast food restaurant. Architectural branding should be discouraged.
