171 – Historic Peoria along the Riverfront

The plaque reads:

THE SITE OF OLD PEORIA. A EUROPEAN SETTLEMENT
IN THE ILLINOIS COUNTY WAS ESTABLISHED BY THE
FRENCH AT OR NEAR THIS PLACE
IN THE WINTER OF 1691 – ‘92

“tls1995″ and Chef Kevin were on it. Accessible by the hiking/biking trail just north of Detweiller Marina and just south of #86.

For the life of me, I can’t find the actual name of this place and since it’s only accessible by the trail, I can’t do a drive-by on the way to work. Anyone know what it’s called?

Well, it is on the river and there is a large green space… yea, it does kinda look like Detweiller GC…

The tombstone of the last golfer who created a scene during tournament play?

  5. tls1995 Says:

Is it one of the parks along the walking trail next to the River that runs from Detweiler Marina to the Riverfront?

  6. PeoriaIllinoisan Says:

It certainly is. When I update the post I’ll type out what the plaque actually says.
