157 – Shelter in Glen Oak Park
.
I think the photo and the corresponding comments say enough.
One of 9 structures in Glen Oak Park designated a local historic landmark by the Historic Preservation Commission, pending council approval. Personally, I hope the council turns down the request and the Park Board, to quote Jonathan Ahl during his post city council roundup “gets their act together.”

Hmmm… as usual, I have no clue. It appears to be in a building though, roof in the background, so maybe the pavillion guess is correct.
It makes me think of the fuss over the lion at the shoppes…

Ah….how about that little place along Prospect, in Glen Oak Park, not far from the entrance, and it’s a water fountain.

OK, am I just being dense? Why can’t I post a reply on the PI site?

And when you look at the photo on the right, does it appear that the upper right hand corner appears to be broken off? Does to me. P.I.? You took the pic. I know it is “only” a water fountain, but it goes back to “who is maintaining the park” and does the park district need an overseer to get this done?

Yea, it is broken off. Frankly it’s in horrible shape when you look at it up close.

[...] This statue is called “Critters” and is located in the Glen Oak Zoo (now called the Peoria Zoo.) I know nothing else about this; I only published this photo because a friend of mine, when asked how to increase my hit count replied “More Phallic Symbols.” – a reference to number 157. [...]
