148 – Peoria Public Libary: Lincoln Branch

Another gorgeous south Peoria building, the Andrew Carnegie funded Lincoln Branch of the Peoria Public Library, located at 1312 W. Lincoln Ave, which is due for an expansion pending the outcome of the Apr 17 referendum.

Journal Star: “Plans at the Lincoln branch call for a 15,000-square-foot addition to be built onto the back of the library, costing an estimated $6.5 million.”

I’ve never personally been inside of this building, but Linda Lowery wrote a great piece at Peoria.com that I encourage you all to read. [link]

This library was built on the site of the original City Cemetary. Currently with the expansion and renovation they are finding additional graves and must go through the cost of relocating them.
