145 – Mark Twain Hotel

Also known as the Samuel Clemens Hotel, owned by former Peorian and Mayor Bud Grieves. I’ve never stayed there, but Polly has, and she says it rocks. What I do know is that it’s the best example I know of why you should test the paint color on a small area before painting your house, otherwise it might end up looking like this:

    Samuel Clemmins hotel?

  2. YOOPER GIRL Says:

Is it the Mark Twain hotel? It looks like one of the numerous softball logo shirts my husband has and can’t part with.

Had Clemens ever marked his twain on the Illinois?

Never did understand why they named this place after him.

I remember when they built this place, as a Howard Johnson’s. It took them about a month to put it up, and it showed.

We were SOOOOO appalled when we saw the color this building was being painted! I still can’t believe they stuck with it.
