93 – Cluskey Mortuary

Peoria_Landmark_93.JPG

202 N.E. Madison, just behind South Side Bank (414 Hamilton). Cudo’s to Josh Harris for his excellent sleuthing ability, but I would expect nothing less from a GeoCacher.

This is the only reference I could find to the Cluskey Mortuary:

Death certificate #21062 State of Illinois
Mrs. Nannie J. McBride died at 2801 North Sheridan Road in Peoria, Illinois on 28 May 1928 of acute cardiac dialation and chronic myocarditis, chronic nephritis and general senility. She was female, white and widowed. She was the widow of H.W. McBride. She died at 75 years and 2 months. She was born 26 May 1869 in Martin, Michigan to unknown parents. The informant was H.O. Baily of Peoria. She was buried on 31 May 1944 in Little York by Cluskey Mortuary.

Looks like I’m going to spend yet another weekend driving around Peoria in search of the answer to the latest posting.

Actually, I don’t think you can see it from the road. Ooops!

This one’s tough – Old brick building, new windows, road sloped down to the river, hmmm perhaps somewhere near Water St?

212 NE Madison. I don’t know the name of the building but there is office space for lease. The picture was taking from the Hamilton side with South Side Bank in the background. I went looking for it tonight with a couple of ideas. Couldn’t find it. We got home and I showed the picture to Kara and she said, what’s in the reflection. I said, its South Side Bank and Associated Bank. Well, I know where this is and I so happen to need gas. Got to love 9 pm gas runs.

I found one mention. I’ll put it soon up when I get a chance to update.

The address is actually 202. Easier to see during the day!
