Samuel H. White Middle School, 304 E. Illinois Ave, built in 1902 and slated for closure.

I can only hope a new use can be found for this building, because it’s a beautiful building. I didn’t realize what a grand structure it was until I got up close to take this picture.

68 – Sign Near St. Mark Catholic School

July 7th, 2006

Peoria_Landmark_68.jpg

Bonus points if you can figure out what it says…

Wheel of Fortune fan Isaac says: No Parking, Picking Up, Dropping Off Students.

Mahkno says: Little Hair Shop next to St. Marks.

I don’t know the name of the little hair shop either, but I would suggest that if they don’t want people parking there, they should make the sign legible. St. Mark Grade School (on Bradley Ave) is in the background, as is one of the PeoriaIllinoisan clan’s bicycle. They’re starting to catch on that going on a bike ride sometimes means photo opp for Dad…

Interstate sound barrier at the east end of Columbia Terrace in the Historic Randolph-Roanoke neighborhood. Take a right and you’re on Crescent, which dead ends into one of many Proctor Methodist Hospital employee parking lots (I’ve walked it once, correct me if I’m wrong).

66 – Cactus on Adams St.

Is this what Peoria, AZ looks like? Michele’s right, it’s on Adams street, just off of Harmon Highway Western, if I recall correctly. I have no idea what this business is, nor do I know why they have a cement cactus out front, but nevertheless, it’s pretty cool.
